Barcelona maintained their perfect start to the LaLiga season with a 5-2 victory over Rayo Vallecano, overcoming an early setback before Raphinha and Lamine Yamal took control of the contest.
Rayo stunned the home crowd by taking the lead through Sergio Camello, but Barcelona responded quickly and eventually turned the match into another statement of their attacking strength.
Raphinha and Yamal both scored twice, while Florian Lejeune's own goal completed the five goal haul.
Rayo Strike First, But Barcelona Respond
Barcelona found themselves behind in the 12th minute when Camello finished from an Álvaro García assist.
The response was almost immediate.
Raphinha restored parity in the 19th minute before Yamal put Barça ahead just two minutes later with a curling effort from outside the box.
The turnaround meant Hansi Flick's side went into half time with a 2-1 advantage, despite Rayo having landed the first blow.
Raphinha and Yamal Provide the Difference
Barcelona extended their advantage shortly after the restart when Lejeune turned the ball into his own net.
Rayo refused to disappear, though, with Camello scoring his second of the evening in the 59th minute to reduce the deficit to one.
That was as close as the visitors would get.
Raphinha restored Barcelona's two goal cushion in the 71st minute after combining with Anthony Gordon, before Yamal completed his brace in the closing stages with a finish set up by Karim Adeyemi.
The two attackers therefore accounted for four of Barcelona's five goals, underlining how important they remain to Flick's attacking plans.
Yamal Reaches Another Milestone
Yamal's first goal was particularly significant.
The 19 year old reached 50 official goals for Barcelona, becoming the youngest player in the club's history to reach the milestone.
It also came at a useful moment for the teenager after Flick recently played down concerns about Yamal's mood and stressed that the youngster was working excellently in training.
His performance against Rayo provided another indication that he is moving towards his best level.
Barcelona Stay Perfect
The victory gives Barcelona three wins from three LaLiga matches, leaving them on nine points alongside Real Madrid at the top of the table. Barça currently lead on goal difference.
There were, however, some defensive concerns for Flick to consider.
Rayo managed to score twice and created problems despite Barcelona controlling much of the match.
The champions were also far more productive in attack, finishing with 26 attempts and 69% possession according to the match statistics.
For now, the attacking output is outweighing those concerns.
Raphinha now has four league goals after three matches, while Yamal has opened his account for the season in spectacular fashion.
Barcelona will next travel to face Valencia on September 6, with Flick's side looking to maintain their perfect league record.
