Marcus Rashford has officially made his return to Manchester United after spending last season on loan at Barcelona.
The England international is back with the first-team squad and has now made his first appearance for United since December 2024, ending a lengthy absence from the club.
Rashford spent the 2025/26 campaign at Barcelona, where he enjoyed an impressive spell and finished the season with 14 goals and 14 assists in 49 appearances across all competitions.
Barcelona ultimately decided against making his loan move permanent.
Rashford Gets Fresh Start at Old Trafford
His return comes under Manchester United head coach Michael Carrick, who has spoken positively about the forward since his arrival back at the club.
Carrick previously described Rashford as a player who can offer United “so much” and insisted that the 28 year old can reproduce the level he has shown in the past.
The change in management has given Rashford a fresh opportunity at Old Trafford after his difficult final period under former United boss Ruben Amorim.
Rashford's return also comes after United struggled to find a permanent buyer during the summer transfer window, leaving the club with the option of integrating him back into the squad.
First United Appearance in Almost Two Years
Rashford's comeback is particularly significant because his previous appearance for Manchester United came in December 2024.
His return against AC Milan in pre-season therefore marked his first United appearance in more than 600 days.
Rashford came off the bench during the match as he began rebuilding his place within the squad.
The forward now has the opportunity to prove that his improved form in Spain can translate back to the Premier League.
With the 2026/27 season approaching, Rashford faces an important period in his Manchester United career.
After months away from Old Trafford, the England star is back, and Carrick appears ready to give him the chance to show what he can still offer.
