Rodri has officially signed his contract as a new Barcelona player, completing his move from Manchester City and beginning a new chapter back in Spain.
The Spanish midfielder has put pen to paper on a contract that will keep him at Barcelona until June 2030, according to Fabrizio Romano.
Rodri also expressed his excitement after completing the formalities.
“I am so, so happy. It’s a dream.”
The signing follows Barcelona's agreement with Manchester City for the 30 year old midfielder after several rounds of negotiations between the clubs.
Manchester City had eventually given the green light to Barça's latest proposal, bringing an end to the transfer saga.
Rodri Gets His Dream Move
For Rodri, the transfer represents a return to Spanish football after seven seasons in England.
He joined Manchester City from Atlético Madrid in 2019 and went on to become one of the most important midfielders in the club's history.
During his time at the Etihad, he won multiple major trophies and established himself as one of the world's leading players in his position.
His decision to join Barcelona came despite interest from other clubs, with the midfielder ultimately choosing Barça as his preferred destination.
Now, that decision has become official.
Barcelona Secure Major Midfield Signing
Rodri gives Barcelona an experienced holding midfielder with a proven record at the highest level.
His arrival also represents a major statement from the Catalan club after they worked through several rounds of negotiations to reach an agreement with Manchester City.
Reports indicate that Barcelona's deal could reach €76.5 million including add-ons, with an initial payment of €60 million.
Rodri is now officially a Barcelona player, with his contract running until June 2030.
And judging by his first words after signing, the midfielder is exactly where he wants to be.
“It’s a dream.”
