Arsenal Beat Chelsea 2-1 to Maintain Perfect Premier League Start

Arsenal showed their character once again as they came from behind to beat Chelsea 2-1 at the Emirates Stadium, maintaining their perfect start to the Premier League season.

Chelsea stunned the defending champions when Morgan Rogers struck after just 77 seconds, but Arsenal responded through Kai Havertz before Martin Ødegaard completed the comeback early in the second half.

The victory gives Mikel Arteta's side three wins from three league matches and keeps them level on nine points with Manchester City at the top of the table.

Chelsea strike first, but Arsenal respond

Arsenal were forced to chase the game almost immediately after Rogers reacted quickest to give Chelsea the lead inside two minutes.

Rather than allowing the early setback to disrupt them, the Gunners gradually took control of the contest and eventually found their equaliser through Havertz in the 25th minute.

The German's goal was particularly significant given his history with Chelsea.

It was his third Premier League goal against his former club, continuing his impressive record in this fixture.

Ødegaard completes the comeback

Arsenal carried their momentum into the second half and took the lead four minutes after the restart.

Havertz played an important role in the move, allowing Ødegaard to finish from inside the box and put Arsenal 2-1 ahead.

Chelsea pushed for an equaliser late on, but Arsenal's defence held firm.

David Raya also produced an important late save to deny Estêvão and preserve the three points.

Another statement from the champions

This was arguably Arsenal's biggest test of the season so far.

Chelsea had also won their opening two league matches under Xabi Alonso, making the London derby a meeting between two unbeaten sides.

Arsenal's ability to recover from conceding so early adds another positive to what has been a flawless start.

The result also extends Arsenal's unbeaten run against Chelsea to 13 matches, with the Gunners recording 10 wins and three draws during that period.

For a team defending its Premier League title, the early signs are encouraging.

Arsenal are not only collecting points but have already shown they can respond when things do not go according to plan.

Who was Arsenal's Man of the Match?

Ødegaard deserves serious consideration after scoring the winning goal, while Havertz was equally important with his equaliser and involvement in the winning move.

Raya also deserves credit for his late intervention.

For me, Havertz edges it.

His goal against his former club changed the momentum of the game, and his involvement in Ødegaard's winner made his overall contribution particularly valuable.

But Ødegaard and Raya certainly have a strong case too.
