Bayern Munich have started the new season with silverware after beating Borussia Dortmund 2–1 to win the Franz Beckenbauer Supercup.
The victory gave Bayern their first trophy of the campaign, but the standout performer on the night was Michael Olise.
The French winger produced a decisive performance, scoring one goal and providing an assist as Vincent Kompany's side secured the win at Signal Iduna Park.
Olise Makes the Difference
Bayern took the lead through new signing Nathaniel Brown in the 28th minute, with Olise providing the assist.
Olise then got his own name on the scoresheet just before half-time, giving Bayern a 2–0 advantage heading into the break.
Dortmund responded after the interval, with Fabio Silva pulling one back in the 75th minute.
The hosts pushed for an equaliser, but Bayern held firm. Dortmund's task became even harder when Ramy Bensebaini was sent off late in the match.
Olise Named Man of the Match
Olise's goal and assist earned him the Man of the Match award, underlining his influence on Bayern's opening competitive fixture of the season.
It was exactly the type of contribution Bayern will want from the 24 year old as they begin another campaign competing for major honours.
The victory also gives Kompany's team an early boost ahead of the Bundesliga season.
For Olise, meanwhile, the night could hardly have gone better... a goal, an assist, a trophy and the Man of the Match award.
