Bruno Fernandes has been named the 2026 PFA Players’ Player of the Year, completing a remarkable individual awards run after his outstanding 2025/26 campaign with Manchester United.
The Portuguese midfielder was recognised by his fellow professionals at the 2026 PFA Awards in Manchester, beating a strong shortlist that included Arsenal's Declan Rice, David Raya and Gabriel Magalhães, as well as Manchester City's Erling Haaland and Rayan Cherki.
Fernandes Caps Record-Breaking Season
Fernandes produced one of the finest individual seasons of his Manchester United career.
The midfielder registered a record 21 Premier League assists, surpassing the previous single-season record of 20 jointly held by Thierry Henry and Kevin De Bruyne.
He also scored nine league goals as United finished third and secured Champions League football.
His creative numbers were a major reason why he emerged as the choice of his fellow players for the PFA's biggest individual men's award.
The recognition also makes Fernandes the first Manchester United player since Wayne Rooney in 2010 to win the PFA Players’ Player of the Year award.
Fernandes Completes Individual Awards Sweep
The PFA award adds another major honour to Fernandes' collection from the 2025/26 campaign.
He had already been named Premier League Player of the Season and Football Writers' Association Footballer of the Year, making the PFA recognition another significant acknowledgement of his performances.
What makes the PFA award particularly significant is that it is voted for by professional footballers themselves.
Fernandes can therefore add a peer-voted honour to a season in which he established himself as one of the Premier League's most productive creators.
For Manchester United, it is further recognition of the importance of their captain, who continues to be central to the club's ambitions.
