Leandro Paredes has been handed a 10 match international suspension by FIFA following the post-match confrontation between Argentina and Spain after the 2026 World Cup final.
FIFA has also imposed sanctions on several other players and an Argentina coaching staff member following the incident, which occurred after Spain defeated Argentina in the final.
Paredes received the heaviest punishment, with FIFA also issuing him a $90,000 fine.
Molina Receives Seven-Match Ban
Argentina defender Nahuel Molina has been suspended for seven international matches and fined $90,000.
The disciplinary action follows his involvement in the confrontation that broke out after the final whistle.

Spain midfielder Gavi has received a one match suspension and a $30,000 fine for his involvement in the post-match incident.
Although his punishment is significantly lighter than those handed to Paredes and Molina, the decision means he will also miss one upcoming Spain international.
The confrontation followed an emotionally charged World Cup final, with the disciplinary fallout continuing weeks after the match.
FIFA Also Sanctions Argentina
The individual suspensions are only part of FIFA's disciplinary action.
The Argentine Football Association has also been fined $321,000 for several disciplinary breaches surrounding the World Cup, while restrictions have been placed on attendance at two of Argentina's upcoming home matches.
The AFA has indicated that it intends to appeal the sanctions.
For Paredes and Molina, however, the immediate concern will be the significant periods they will spend away from Argentina's national team.
The 10-match punishment makes Paredes' suspension the most severe of the sanctions handed down following the post-final clash.
